Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to do to prepare for the call?

Make sure you are in a distraction-free environment with a pen and paper to take notes. Your parents are welcome to join you. This is a no-pressure call where you can ask questions and share about your writing journey and goals.

Is this just for writers who are ready to publish?

No. We work with any writer who knows they want to make writing their career and needs a viable path to get there — whether you are still working to complete your first novel or already have a literary agent. Motivation, teachability, and a willingness to work hard are more important than your level of writing experience.

I've tried other programs and didn't get results. How do I know this will work for me?

Students who have been disappointed by other writing programs have a better experience with The Author Conservatory because they are finally receiving:

1) Regular feedback on their work from industry professionals, not just peers.

2) Hands-on training in practical skills like marketing, platform-building, publishing, etc.

3) A viable path to supporting themselves as a writer through business skills and entrepreneurship.

Plus, they are receiving all this within a vibrant Christian community of equally passionate writers -AND- dedicated coaches who won’t let them give up, even when they feel like it.

I'm scared to make this decision.

We’re not asking you to decide yes or no today. We just want you to make a fully informed decision. That is all. The only way you can make a fully informed decision is on the other side of this call. After the call you can take time to pray about it, talk to your parents and mentors, and send us any follow-up questions. Fair enough?

Do I need to use social media to make this work?

No. While social media can be a valuable tool, it is not required. Students who prefer to avoid social media will learn how to connect with readers and build an author platform with a special emphasis real-world networking and email marketing. This approach often works better (and is far less draining) than the hamster wheel of content creation on social media platforms.

Can you work with students outside the United States?

Yes. We work with students from Australia, the U.K., New Zealand, Canada, and more. Please ask your Admissions Advisor for details.
