Discover the Next Generation of Christian Storytellers…

The sixth edition of Voices of the Future weaves together short stories of whimsy and warriors in a memorable and heartwarming collection. Experience the next generation’s creativity and vision through tales from rising young creatives.

Featuring Hollis Wakefield

Hollis Wakefield buried herself in classic novels beginning at age 14. The unabridged editions of Frankenstein, The Count of Monte Cristo, and other classics held deep meaning which rooted her as she navigated growing into adulthood. Hollis now brings her own twist to the YA Fantasy genre through stories that combine the thoughtfulness of the classics with fast-paced adventures. On the rare occasion she’s not writing, Hollis can be found wrapped in her tortilla blanket while studying philosophy and politics. Or she’s whisking herself to a bygone era through 1800s music on her piano and violin.

About Her Short Story

The Rose-Tinted Glasses by Hollis Wakefield

Last year, Hurley Bragan’s best friend left him saddled with debt and trapped in servitude to a greedy merchant. Only Hurley’s magical rose-tinted glasses, which make reminders of pain invisible, helped him bear the betrayal. With one last day left to pay off the debt, Hurley and his talking seagull find another job in the harbor. But seemingly invisible objects block Hurley’s steps. And the very ship his friend sailed away on arrives in port. Faced with either failure or confronting his buried pain, Hurley is forced to ask the question: How can we heal from things that hurt?
