So now, Sarah writes sci-fi and fantasy adventures that hearken back to her favorite tales while seeking to guard the tender hearts of younger readers.
When she’s not writing, you might find her creating expansive fan-fiction universes with her sister, reading a good book with her fluffy cat buddy for company, or daydreaming about becoming a filmmaker and bringing epic sci-fi adventures to life on screen.

About Her Short Story
Lights Out on the Red Planet by Sarah Rye
Thirteen-year-old Saige just wants to spend a fun evening with her twin sister, Cinna, enjoying the one-night-only bloom of the glowing Martian fairyflowers they planted months ago in the greenhouse within their family’s compound on the Red Planet. But then the power goes out while their parents are away for the evening, leaving the compound running on emergency power and endangering the temperature-sensitive fairyflowers.
Saige and Cinna must cross the compound and reset the circuit breakers in order to restore power and save their flowers. But first, Saige must face the oversized insects lurking in the shadowy corners of the compound—nightwasps. And after being stung by one last month, she’s in no hurry to face the nasty insects again.
Saige and Cinna will have to hurry if they’re going to save their flowers and watch them bloom. But can they get there in time? And without being stung?
