Discover the Next Generation of Christian Storytellers…

This third edition of Voices of the Future weaves together short stories of healing and home in a memorable and heartwarming collection. Experience the next generation’s creativity and vision through tales from rising young creatives.

Featuring Zoe Anastasia

Zoe Anastasia grew up in an Army family, moved all over the country, and discovered along the way that whimsical fantasy stories feel like home to her. She writes to illuminate the darkness and show the girl tucked in the corner that she is seen and belongs.

When Zoe isn’t daydreaming about magical humpback whales and butterflies who can speak, she’s usually wandering through nature or making apple cider donuts at her local pumpkin farm. Wary of crafty, book-thieving monsters, she also runs The Fable Fortress, a shop filled with bookmarks and sleeves to protect your precious tomes from harm.

About Her Short Story

Kaelyn doesn’t believe in healing magic. Especially not the kind found in swamps.

When her mother falls dangerously ill, Kaelyn copes by carving wooden spoons to earn money for medicine, while her little sister Ari plucks flowers and sings about magical swamps. The songs make Mother smile. Ari insists the fairy tales about healing music are real. But Kaelyn gave up on music a long time ago and let her ocarina fall into disrepair. She feels the mounting pressure to stay at Mother’s side—not galavant in the woods.

However, when Mother asks Kaelyn to play her favorite song, Kaelyn must turn to the murky depths of her sister’s beloved swamp—searching for magic strong enough to mend her instrument and rekindle her family’s hope before it’s too late.
