Discover the Next Generation of Christian Storytellers…

The fourth edition of Voices of the Future weaves together short stories of adventure and imagination in a memorable and heartwarming collection. Experience the next generation’s creativity and vision through these brief tales from rising young creatives.

Featuring Esther Pipkin

Esther Pipkin grew up on a farm in Missouri, where she spent her childhood in the woods playing with Peter Pan and the Pevensies. At 15, she moved away from everything she’d known to a strange new world called Massachusetts, which started her journey with mental health. She draws from her experiences to write YA stories full of hope and home for weary souls like her. When she’s not writing, you might find Esther baking snickerdoodles and singing showtunes, playing with her cat, or going on adventures (like visiting bookstores) with her husband.

About Her Short Story

Magic used to be legal. But now that it isn’t, siblings Willow, Smith, and Zillow run their bookshop magic free. On the surface, anyway. But Smith brings home an elf child, the last of the magic wielding races—just as their landlord Vanessa decides to tighten the noose and root out any law-breakers. Willow and her siblings have one day to convince Vanessa they’ve given up magic for good, or face being thrown in the dungeons, along with an innocent child. There’s just one catch: to do that, Willow will have to use the magic she’s meant to have given up. In front of Vanessa.
