Discover the Next Generation of Christian Storytellers…

The seventh edition of Voices of the Future weaves together short stories of strength and sacrifice in a memorable and heartwarming collection. Experience the next generation’s creativity and vision through tales from rising young creatives.

Featuring Colin Horst

As an artist who discovered a love for storytelling through books and theater, Colin Horst spends as much time writing stories as he does performing them onstage. Both blessed and cursed with an overactive mind, Colin slays his dragons of doubt daily while writing science fiction stories filled with imperfect characters marching forward with steadfast courage.

When not brainstorming new tech for his stories, Colin can be found reciting Hamilton by memory, arranging his friends according to MBTI typology, or assembling computer components for a new PC build.

About His Short Story

Escaping Limbo

Lynx Coldstone, head rotation navigator of the USS Exodus, captains the helm with calculated perfection, but when an undocumented black hole interrupts the starship’s flight path, he’s faced with two damaged accelerator drives and a one-way ticket to molecular disintegration. With the help of his navigation partner, Azalea Steele, Lynx follows protocol to wake the engineer despite concerns it may plunge them deeper into the gravitational anomaly.

When the plan goes south, all hope falls upon Lynx’s shoulders to repair the accelerator drives before the void of nightmares terminates their mission forever. There’s only one small issue.

Protocol doesn’t exist for this situation.
