Discover the Next Generation of Christian Storytellers…

The eighth edition of Voices of the Future weaves together short stories of myth and memory in a memorable and heartwarming collection. Experience the next generation’s creativity and vision through tales from rising young creatives.

Featuring James Noller

James Noller writes young adult novels from the fields of his Australian home, while his tiny dog longs to chase the kangaroos on the other side of the fence. Inspired to explore what “coming of age” means today, James creates fantasy stories to help teens face the challenges of growing up—without losing their wonder.

Having written his first musical at age 16, James is an avid songwriter and often takes his storytelling to the stage in local theatre. Away from both page and stage, you’ll likely find James plotting his revenge at Catan or inventing cheesy songs with his twin brother.

About His Short Story

Son of the Evening Star by James Noller

Charidor is the son of the great Evening Star, but still he has no light of his own. Every young Star must walk the earth until they come of age and receive their light—only then can they rise into the sky and become a shining Star. Even though Charidor is old enough, his light still hasn’t appeared, and he’s the only Star left to walk the dark earth at night.

One windy night, as thick clouds block out every Star in the sky, a desperate cry for help echoes through the forest and Charidor alone hears the child’s plea. To help the child, he must face the darkness he fears and venture into the deepest cave.

Yet still he wonders, what use can a Star be without his light?
