Featuring Piper Sams

Piper Sams grew up in a family that encouraged dressing-up and believing that good will always triumph–which inspired her to write YA fantasy that sweeps teens into worlds of adventure and hope. She can be found fighting for the life of the grasshopper in her hands while rolling down a hill, hiking with her family, rewriting songs to laugh at books she’s read, and listening to music that sends her into an adventure-filled daydream.

About Her Short Story

Playing with Fire by Piper Sams

Thirteen-years-old AVA GOLDENBERG knows what it means to play with fire and get burnt–literally.  As they travel to their aunt’s so they can stay with her while their parents are out of town, Ava dutifully avoids her sister FLYKRA’s lantern so she’ll never be burnt again. But when a frostcat traps Flykra in a cave, Ava’s left behind with only the lantern to fight it—because turns out, the fire that frightens Ava is her only hope of defeating the frostcat before it eats Flykra.
