Tabitha grew up listening to my dad read bedtime stories to her and her five siblings in funny accents (there were probably a couple cats, birds, hamsters, lizards, frogs, or fish listening in too.) Now, she writes stories inspired by the classic books he used to read—stories that give children the courage to face their dragons and remind them to look for the light, even if they have to fight to see it. When she’s not scribbling down stories, you can find her snuggling an opinionated cat, talking to her feisty parrot, playing her harp, or wandering outdoors looking for squirrels.

About Her Short Story
How a Mouse Became a Knight by Tabitha Lyon
William is a timid field mouse who lives in his human friend Lord Robert’s castle and dreams of one day becoming a brave knight. The chance to prove himself comes one morning when he hears the servants plotting to steal Lord Robert’s prized chalice. William knows he must warn Lord Robert, but hunting dogs prowl about the castle halls, and William lives in terror of them—especially Fernando, the meanest hound of all. When his plans to avoid the hounds are foiled by wicked pigeons, William finally realizes he must travel through the castle halls, where the hounds roam, and face Fernando if he is to warn Lord Robert in time.
