Discover the Next Generation of Christian Storytellers…

Featuring Avery Heisey

Avery always considered herself the hero without a dragon to slay, insecure in her own simple life and story. Growing up meant realizing her own life story does have value, small as her adventures may seem. Avery now tells cozy stories that reflect familiar struggles, weaving them into fantasy worlds to show that even small stories are worth being told. In her spare time, Avery loves storytelling through theatre and singing, and feels most at home in fellowship with her friends and out in nature.

About Her Short Story
Guide and Seek by Avery Heisey
When you’re the daughter of researchers on a jungle island, life should be an adventure. But not for Aelia, who’s stuck at home babysitting her little brother Luc and his rabbit Basil.
Then Aelia finds a letter from her parents’ sponsors requesting a rare herb in order to resume their funding, and she takes it upon herself to find the plant and prove herself to her parents. But there’s one problem: she still has to babysit her brother, and if she takes him with her, he’s bound to cause trouble or at least slow her down.
As she guides Luc and Basil on their search through the jungle, facing crossroads, bothersome parrots, and Luc’s runaway rabbit, Aelia has to learn to be a true leader to find the elusive herb. Will she go at it alone to prove herself to her parents, or will she listen to her little brother, who may know the only way to find the plant after all.
