Discover the Next Generation of Christian Storytellers…
Featuring Caleb E. King
Having read Lewis and Tolkien’s epic novels by age eight, Caleb E. King penned his first stories shortly thereafter. His head is constantly filled with swords, castles, and several flying dragons. His mission is to write tales that gift young adults the courage to stand up against darkness and ignite the warrior inside.
When he’s not living vicariously through a thick tome with a steaming mug of tea at his elbow, Caleb can be found on adventures of his own. He loves exploring God’s creation with friends, drawing cartoons, or puzzling over a particularly difficult rhyme in his next poem.
About His Short Story
All his life, Pierce wanted to be a tournament sword-fighter. But his dreams were shelved ever since Ma grew sick. When she is given only months to live, the entire family is overcome with grief. Attempting to cheer everyone up, Pierce’s father organizes a birthday banquet for Ma.
But Pierce chooses to channel his grief into a sword-fighting tournament, hoping to make it big and become so rich he never has to watch his family struggle again. When the tournament falls on Ma’s birthday, Pierce must choose; chase future dreams, or learn to cherish the gift of the present moment.
