Discover the Next Generation of Christian Storytellers…

The seventh edition of Voices of the Future weaves together short stories of strength and sacrifice in a memorable and heartwarming collection. Experience the next generation’s creativity and vision through tales from rising young creatives.

Featuring HannahGrace Bowen

HannahGrace Bowen wrote her first story when she was seven years old — the tale of a mouse who discovered an enchanted underwater dolphin kingdom. Ever since then, she knew she wanted to be an author. Even though she does not currently have any projects in the works centering mice as main characters, she still tells stories that provide a gateway to another world, inspire wonder, and celebrate beauty. In her spare time, she enjoys going on walks with her dog, people watching, and passionately discussing the merits of her favorite novels with anyone who will listen.

About Her Short Story

Nowhere Girl

Despite how far-fetched it might seem from her small midwestern town, Juliet Thatcher dreams of attending university in Europe, surrounded by the nature, culture, and history that inspired her favorite authors and artists. Unfortunately, this particular dream comes with a very high price tag—one that makes it seem impossible.
When Juliet hears that a local philanthropist is hosting a scholarship essay contest, she hopes that this is the opportunity that she has been looking for. To enter, all she will have to do is write an essay about her hometown. But because Juliet spent her growing-up years moving around, she has never felt like she has a “hometown”—and has no idea how to even begin writing the essay.
With the chance to achieve her dreams on the line, Juliet needs to face her complicated feelings about how she grew up. What makes a place “home,” anyway?
