Discover the Next Generation of Christian Storytellers…

The fifth edition of Voices of the Future weaves together short stories of bravery and belonging in a memorable and heartwarming collection. Experience the next generation’s creativity and vision through these brief tales from rising young creatives.

Featuring Katharine Stacy

Katharine Stacy often wonders if she was born in the wrong century. Whether sailing with pirates or singing Christmas carols by a roaring fire, she delights in historical ambience. She particularly loves creaky ships, flowery wallpaper, and musty libraries. Therefore, she revels in writing historical fiction featuring that authentic, old-fashioned flavor, and seeks to acknowledge life’s trials, while emphasizing its beauty. When not writing, she can be found singing, acting out her stories with stuffed animals and American Girl dolls, devouring battered books, enjoying Disney movies, talking till 3 a.m. with friends, or scorekeeping at Colorado Rockies baseball games.

About Her Short Story

Maggie Baker loves all the joys of Christmas, the egg nog, oranges, tree, festive songs, and the story of Jesus’ birth. But when she receives news that her beloved grandmother is ill, she feels discouraged, and unsure whether or not she can spread her joy to the rest of the manor house’s servants, who are disgruntled and sad about the preparations.

Can she find the courage to share her own fears and sadness to help others open up? Or will she be held back by her fear of rocking the boat?
