Featuring Kimberly C. Grace

Kimberly C. Grace has always found stories in unexpected places. As a girl, she turned cotton balls into characters and pencils into people. As she grew, she grappled through pain by imagining herself inside her books. Passionate about showing God’s faithfulness, no matter when or where, Kimberly writes historical and contemporary novels that remind you to take heart even in the fiercest darkness. When Kimberly’s not writing, you can find her cuddled up with her puppy, sipping fruity tea, or enjoying coloring books while listening to audio dramas!

About Her Short Story

Jeb, father and soldier, must find the courage it takes to keep going even when the last piece he has left from his family burns.

A man who can never stop smiling chooses to leave his family to fight in the American Civil War. His wife and little girl give him a farewell gift of a homemade flag, which he carries with him night and day. Entering or leaving the battlefield, touching the jagged stars his daughter cut out is his only respite from the shadows that torment him. But then the flag catches fire… his hope of home burning with the red and blue.
