Featuring Nicole ElsieRose

Nicole ElsieRose started her writing adventure in 1st grade, stapling together printer paper to create her own little booklets, but it wasn’t until an 8th grade composition class that she realized writing might be more than something she did just for fun.

Now, she blends historical and contemporary fiction to create stories of hope and heart that feel like home. When not writing, Nicole loves curling up with a mug of hot cocoa year-round, listening to her favorite songs on repeat, and creating content for her Instagram—combining her love of dance, photography, and storytelling.

About Her Short Story

Like a Child by Nicole ElsieRose

Marie Desmere has always loved Christmastime – the extravagant decorations, the warm glow of the candlelight, and the gathering of family and friends. But now that she’s turned eighteen, it feels harder to get into the Christmas spirit. Being the eldest of four sisters, she has always felt mature and grown up, but turning eighteen… it feels different, more final. As if childhood is now a closed door of the past, something she can’t get back. Thus, Marie works on a gift for her sisters: a keepsake sketchbook, full of drawings that capture the essence of Christmas through their wonder-lit eyes. But through an unexpected snowfall and an afternoon whisked away with her sisters, she discovers that her presence is the best gift she can give them… and little Marie? Her inner child just might be closer than she thinks.
