Discover the Next Generation of Christian Storytellers…

Featuring Ryan Elizabeth

Ryan Elizabeth is the daughter of singer-songwriters and the granddaughter of a master artisan. She writes to remind readers of the extraordinary within the ordinary, crafting contemplative stories that explore beauty in the midst of sadness.
When she isn’t working on one of her books, you could probably find her serving coffee as a barista in her Pennsylvania college town, dabbling with one of her many musical instruments, or chatting about theology and the arts.
About Her Short Story
Treefriend follows a young man torn between the uncertainty of a dream and the familiarity of childhood wonder.
When eighteen–year-old August receives a last-minute acceptance letter and scholarship for his favorite art school, he finds himself far from all he’s ever known but closer than ever to the dream he’s been reaching for. After an unsettling silence forms between him and Willow—the vivacious tree-spirit boy who’s been like a brother to him throughout childhood—questions arise concerning the nature of the magic that has bound them for so many years. As August packs his things, grappling with a looming, uncertain future—and the ache of final farewells—will he find answers in the roots of an everlasting friendship?
