Featuring Zoe Sams

Zoe Sams has adored stories for her entire life; she started telling stories with her sister when she was one and she began her writing journey at the age of ten. She writes YA and adult fantasy adventure to combat lies and provide truth and healing to a hurting world. Zoe’s also part of the Author’s Conservatory, a program meant for emerging young writers. There, she’s learned the fundamentals of business, platforming, and storytelling from industry professionals. Zoe’s an extrovert who loves hanging around people, and she enjoys beautiful, sunny days and storms where tornado sirens blare outside.

About Her Short Story

Facing the Storm by Zoe Sams

Sixteen-year-old SYLVIE WINTERS longs to protect herself from the annual whiteout. Her fear of the storm keeps her safe as she cozies up with her comfort during the storm: her precious dog VALENTINE, whom she adores.

When Valentine runs away, Sylvie and her brother, ALEXANDER, must find her before the whiteout arrives. Now they must race against time and Sylvie’s mounting terror of the blizzard that nearly stole her life as a girl, or else Valentine will perish. All the while Sylvie tries to avoid the storm… only to realize that her fears have undermined her search. Worse yet, Valentine’s not the only one in danger.

Can Sylvie discover a way to face the storm and rescue her dog, or will she lose those close to her to its icy winds?
