Author Conservatory Graduate Signs with a Literary Agent and Signs a Ghostwriting Contract

Apr 27, 2026 | Student Spotlights

Hollis Wakefield, Author Conservatory alumna, has signed a single-contract agreement with Rachel Kent from Books & Such and landed a ghostwriting contract for a music artist with an audience of over 2 million, only five months after her graduation from The Author Conservatory.

The fantasy author enrolled as a student in The Author Conservatory four years ago, where she was instructed in writing craft and business skills from world-class industry professionals. She graduated from the program in September 2025 with four completed novel manuscripts and a marketing management business for authors.

Wakefield was approached by the music artist after she provided feedback on a manuscript, showcasing her knowledge and mastery of writing craft. Within a week, Wakefield received an offer of representation from Rachel Kent and signed with the agency.

In early March, Wakefield signed a manuscript contract. She will be ghostwriting a novel for the popular musical artist and has begun the production process.

Wakefield expressed her gratitude for Author Conservatory instructors and credited the program for helping develop her skills in editing as well as writing. She stated: “When I called the musician, they didn’t just respect my writing skill, they also seemed to respect my industry knowledge. The Author Conservatory gave me both of those things.”

Hollis Wakefield is the author of The Rose-Tinted Glasses, a short story featured in “Voices of the Future: Stories of Whimsy & Warriors.” She writes classic-inspired young adult fantasy stories packed with action and twists and graduated from The Author Conservatory in 2025 with dual certificates in Creative Writing & Publishing and Business & Entrepreneurship.
